Make sure you submit the final draft by the due date. As you re-write this week, you might look for places for better detail. Try to be specific when you can. For example, instead of saying “I went to the store” say “I drove to Vons.” Try to use dialogue. Don’t tell the reader what someone said; rather, show the reader the dialogue. It makes the essay come alive, often. Of course, work on making the meaning understandable and proofread for errors. I expect you to rewrite the beginning of the essay to make it so strong that a reader will want to read the rest of the essay. Students who do not re-write the beginnings, I suppose, think that their original draft is strong enough: I WILL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT. You will lose points if the beginning is not strong and if I see no effort to re-write which is more than adding a sentence or two or changing a word or two. T.S. Eliot re-wrote! You should, too.
